Hedi Ben Mami
Fashion designer, founder of BENMA brand. How to choose the right materials and use them well with a minimum of waste? This was the challenge of the designer Hedi ben Mami. After many trial sketches, and a sharp selection, he began molding and layering the clothes in order to execute his idea. A meticulous study of the shrinkage of the fabrics and a well-finished seam ensured the good finish of his creations. The young designer is inspired by nature, more specifically by oases. Sand, greenery and water materialized in his three creations following a contemporary and graphic approach. His complete outfit designed for “Moodha Okhra” consists of a plastron blouse which is the fusion of two old linen shirts in poor condition. A skirt, which is the result of a fusion between gabardine pants and a basic linen skirt. These parts have been fully used. A bomber jacket was also designed based on an anorak (used at 70%), a corduroy skirt (used at 70%), another one in leather (used at 40%) and the rest of the waste of a pair of trousers. Hedi Ben Mami is a Tunisian painter, IT engineer and fashion designer. He studied at ESMOD Tunis to perfect his skills and ended up launching his clothing brand in 2019. At the same time, he signed collections for manufacturers such as Demco and Fadhila. He perfected a modern, graphic, structured and colorful style. A great lover of history, architecture and nature, Hedi highlights the sought-after and authentic side of his creations by focusing on research into materials, having a sense of cut and volume, while collaborating with local craftsmen.
